Following the recent course closures at Normanton, during the cold spell, we had members asking "why exactly is the course closed?". Well, the main reason is the damage we can do to the greens.
In the video (on a windy day!), Dan Webster, Head Professional at St Annes Old Links, describes the effects of the recent cold weather on the golf course.
This may be a frustating time but playing, whilst the playing surfaces are like this, can cause quite severe damage. Luckily its not a regular occurrence and our Head Greenkeeper, Dave Crampton, tells us that this is an unusual set of circumstances weather wise, and has not happened at Normanton for a number of years.
