Captain's Update - June 26th

The good weather has finally arrived and has got our golf course, and in particular our greens, back on track although we could do with a bit of rain. How ironic.

During the past month we have held some open events that have been very well attended and received by visiting players, the Ladies section hosting the mixed open and the Eggs having an open day. Thank you and well done to everyone who was involved in the organising of the competitions, these events do not just happen on their own, the success of such events are a testament of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, in particular, special thanks to Anita and Graham Fox.

Open Days

The inaugural open day that took place on 9th June on behalf of our professional Gary was another fantastic day that was also attended by many members and visitors from other clubs. I have spoken with Gary who was overwhelmed at the way the event was supported and has asked me to thank everyone once again for their continued support.

There are further open day events upcoming at NGC so please check the fixtures and your personal diaries and wherever possible please support the events.

9 Hole Championship

On 19th June our club held a 9 hole event that was well received by all members, the top 2 scores on the day being David Frith and Helen McCall with 24 & 23 points respectively. Well done to both of you but unfortunately did not qualify through to Carnoustie. Thank you to all of the other participants. I will be speaking to our competitions committee with a view to holding more of these 9 hole events in the future as the R & A are really promoting such initiatives to help promote our wonderful game of golf.

Captain's Away Day

On 22nd June I had my captains away day at Ramside Hall GC located in Durham. The weather was beautiful and the day went very well for the 68 people that attended. Some magnificent team and individual scores were posted on the day for the 27 hole event in particular Mark Griffiths & Des Lawson.  (Scott. ¬†Mark is available for a lesson !!) Congratulations to all of the winners on the day and thank you to all that attended, I appreciate your support.

Captain's Day

My Captains day on 21st July is quickly approaching, the course will be in immaculate condition and ready to test your golf.
The worthy winners of the competition on the day will be rewarded with a selection of great prizes, there are also hole in one and nearest the pin prizes on all of the par 3s, the nearest the pin prizes kindly donated by David Ryley.
On the evening, after the presentation there will be a great buffet as always,  and you will be entertained by the outstanding vocalist Holly Tandy, followed by music and dancing.
The event is open to all members at a cost of £18pp which entitles the paying member to bring one guest to the evening.
Due to planning for food and seating I would be really grateful if you would indicate at the time of booking if you are attending in the evening and if you are being accompanied or not.

Thank you once again to all of you for your continued help and support.
